Pajamas Days

Winter has taken over, and cuddling up in bed or on the couch is the only activity I’m interested in for the next couple of months. And what’s better to wear in a cuddle-bubble than pajamas? Sure, you could opt for sweats or gym shorts, but for my money, a matching pajama set is the perfect outfit for a comfy-cozy at-home time. From the plaid to the gingham, winter sleepwear is better than ever before. Here is a rundown of some top picks for the season.

Even though the holidays are wrapped, that doesn’t mean you still can’t sport matching family PJs. For a wintery movie night with popcorn and blankets, coordinated pajamas set the tone for a cozy cuddle fest. Old Navy is going strong with the family pajamas offerings. You can score deals on Christmas-themed sets or go for a more general winter vibe in plaid flannel tops and bottoms. I like the green tartan print for the whole fam. Grown-ups can opt for the standard button shirt and drawstring pants, while the kids’ version is a long-sleeve pullover and snug-fit bottoms.

If you’re looking to get super snuggly this winter, forgo the two-piece set and get yourself into a onesie. Whether it be of the animal variety with a matching hood or a unisex footed option, a roomy one-piece is the ultimate comfort loungewear. I like Forever Lazy’s (the name says it all) onesie with detachable feet and a rear zipper drop seat for convenience and comfort. They have a wide range of prints, and the sizing is unisex for adults. Another fun option for matchy-matchy around-the-house looks.

Of course, not everyone likes the feel of overly roomy sleepwear. If the idea of a onesie appeals to you, but you’re looking for a more fitted version, check out Fruit of the Loom’s Waffle Unionsuit, which is made from the same material as their traditional long underwear. So, you can wear it on its own at home or use it as a base layer under snow clothes if you are forced outside.

Another fitted option is the Chill Evening Pajama set from Free People. This 2-piece set features a soft, solid-colored cotton long-sleeve shirt with coordinated plaid or striped boxer-inspired joggers. It comes in navy, grey, or red color combos and pairs easily with your favorite oversized cardigan for double the snuggly feels. It’s also far from the most embarrassing thing you can wear when you answer the door for deliveries.

If you’re more in the market for chic and sleek PJs as opposed to warm and fuzzy pajamas, then check out Target’s Beautifully Soft Top and Pants Pajama set from their Stars Above brand. The piping along the collar, cuff, pockets, and pant hem lends an air of elegance to this traditional pajama set. It comes in classic colors like rose pink, navy, black, and heathered grey. This would be the pair to pack for any wintertime getaways this season.

If flannel or fleece are not up your loungewear alley, there’s J.Crew’s Long-sleeved Cropped Pajama set in cotton poplin. This comes in green or red stripes or a green and white heart print. The cropped part is a shorter and wider set button top with a full-length bottom. This is definitely a pair you may want to hold off on wearing until the weather turns, as it feels very fresh and crisp, perfect for the coming spring.

Lastly, there are the classic standbys from Lanz of Salzburg with their vintage-inspired and traditional print PJs. These sets have a very homey feel, perfect for sleeping in and cuddling up. I’m having trouble deciding between the red Tyrolean flannel pajamas or the navy heart striped PJs as my favorite from this brand.

So, as the elements force us all inside, queue up your streaming shows, pour some hot cocoa for the kids, and get extra comfy in a pair of PJs as you hunker down and get cozy.
