Summer Smiles, Grad Gifts, and Great Giveaways

What a great logo the Williamsport Crosscutters have to celebrate their 25th season. I will definitely be looking for a new hat sporting the image when I travel up to Historic Bowman Field to cheer on our home team. If you happen to miss what I’m talking about, it can be found on the cover along with a great picture of my good friend Rhashan, who is now a Hall of Fame Coach and Director of Smiles in Crosscutter land. I will have much more about this as well as some great summer giveaways, a little later in my column.

Congratulations to all graduating in the class of 2023! Most college graduates have already donned a cap and gown, and now it’s time for area high schoolers to celebrate their journey. Please take great pride in your accomplishments and best wishes as you move forward into the next chapter of your life.

A little advice to those of you looking for the perfect gift for your graduate. Unless you’re a parent or grandparent or somebody extremely close, a card with some cash inside will bring a smile to a grad’s face. And in most cases, you could probably skip the card. A good suggestion here might be to have a pack of those money/gift card-holding cards on hand, just in case.

This is a good point in my column to congratulate my daughter-in-law Lauren, who, if you remember, married my oldest son Jimmy last October while she was attending dental school. Well, I’m very proud to say we now have a dentist in the family.

Dr. Lauren Raemore recently graduated from Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine with honors. She will be joining her father, Dr. David Raemore, at their newly remodeled Washington Boulevard practice. It is truly their family business and calling.

If you are currently looking for a dentist, she’s accepting new patients. I’m very proud to recommend the young lady; she will make a great dentist for the years to come. Maybe now, if I forgot to get her a card, I’m covered.

Now back to Muncy Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field. A tip of my Webb Weekly hat with the American Flag on the side to the Williamsport Crosscutters on celebrating your 25th year! It has been my pleasure to work with the ball club since we began the Webb Weekly.

Rhashan, the Vice President of Smiles, Gabe Sinicropi, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations, and Doug Estes, Vice President, and GM, have all become like family over the years.

I sincerely thank the ownership, and all involved for making me feel like a partner in the Crosscutter organization. I feel this is where I should yell out, “Play Ball,” “Timber,” or both. I welcome you to get out and support our boys of summer. It is always much more than a baseball game, as Gabe and Rhashan will keep you entertained. There will also be a long list of events and happenings at the old ballpark. They can always be found throughout the season and featured within our pages.

Baseball fans, make sure you keep your eyes open for some great Crosscutter giveaways as we celebrate America’s pastime played in one of the most beautiful ballparks in our Country.

Most of you reading know I love summertime giveaways, and it’s not too early to get registered for our Great American Cookout Package. Editor, Steph, kicked it off last week, and the info and entry form can be found on page right below me.

I would again like to thank my friends at Elery Nau Hardware for providing, and especially assembling the 4-burner grill, as well as a fully filled new propane tank. Mikey Rupert and his great staff at Rupert’s Specialty Meats for the $50 gift card for whatever you want to throw on the grill. And last but definitely not least, old Chet Ruth and John, his son-in-law, down at Frosty Beverage for the $50 gift card for something to wash it all down.

So, here’s the skinny on our summer prize pack giveaway. Simply fill out the entry form and mail it in or drop it off at my office. The winner will be announced in our June 28th edition so you can enjoy your great American Cookout as you celebrate the 4th of July. Good luck to all that enter, and please, one entry form per person.

In closing things out, here is where I sneak in our first summertime giveaway. I have been working with 5 Star Wrestling and Joe Rogers to promote a feature event that includes World Wrestling stars of the 1990s. Details can be found on the back cover. If you’re into pro wrestling and can attend the event, be the 1st person to call me and win four tickets. Just tell me who your favorite wrestler is that appears in the ad. My contact information is always on page 4.

Maybe I should slip two tickets in a graduation card for Dr. Lauren and Jimmy. I think that covers a nice personal card, and you can surely always use a dentist at a wrestling match.

Let’s all be safe out there.

God Bless America.
