Cutters Joining Spikes in Rebranding for Special NFT Jersey Game

In a partnership that forges a new connection between baseball and the non-fungible token (NFT) space, the Williamsport Crosscutters and State College Spikes will each rebrand for a game on Saturday, July 9 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in State College. The Spikes will become the State College DiamondDawgs, adopting the identity of the DiamondDawgs NFT’s created by former Spikes player and current St. Louis Cardinals minor leaguer Evan Mendoza, while the Crosscutters will become the Williamsport Bored Apes, representing the Bored Ape Yacht Club, one of the most prestigious NFT collections. It was reported that Tom Brady recently joined the Bored Ape Yacht Club by purchasing Bored Ape #3667 for $430,000.

Cutters OF Etzel Captures MLB Draft League Honors…Again

The MLB Draft League announced that Williamsport’s Matthew Etzel was named Hitter of the Week, for the period of June 20 to June 26. Etzel, 20, earns his second consecutive Hitter of the Week award after batting .529 (9-for-17) with one home run and two doubles in four games for the Crosscutters. He paced all MLB Draft League hitters during the period in hits (t-9) and RBIs (t-8), ranked second in total bases (14) and steals (5) and third in batting average and on-base percentage (.619), and finished fifth in OPS (1.443).

“Make Your Cutters Debut” Taking Entries Until July 15

Have you ever dreamed of suiting up in full uniform and getting paid to play baseball? The Williamsport Crosscutters are giving fans the opportunity with the “Make Your Cutters Debut” contest sponsored by the Williamsport Sun-Gazette.
The winner will have the opportunity to:
– Sign a one-day Williamsport Crosscutters contract
– Suit up in an official Cutters uniform
– Participate in batting practice and pregame activities with the team
– Be interviewed live, on-field during pregame ceremonies
– Participate in the lineup card exchange prior to the game
– Throw a ceremonial first pitch
– Be in the Cutters dugout with fellow players for the entire game
– Keep your Cutters jersey and cap

One winner will be chosen at random to participate in the various team activities prior to and during the Williamsport Crosscutters July 27 game at Muncy Bank Ballpark against the State College Spikes.
Fans can enter by visiting crosscutters.com and clicking on the “Make Your Cutters Debut” button to access the short online entry form. Contestants must be 18 years of age or older. No purchase necessary. One entry per person. Registration closes July 15 at 11:59 p.m.

Cutters Honoring Military Heroes in 2022 – Openings Still Remain

The Williamsport Crosscutters are honoring local military heroes during the upcoming 2022 season.

The program, called Military Salute, is presented by EQT and will honor a veteran or active-duty military member in pregame ceremonies at every Cutters home game this season.

To nominate your military hero, simply fill out the short online nomination form available at crosscutters.com. Those chosen will receive:
– 4 tickets to the selected game
– A $25 Cutters gift card
– Recognition on the field prior to the game & ceremonial 1st pitch honors

Nominations will remain open until all 40 available spots have been filled.
Cutters Unveil Great Potato Caper Merchandise

This season, the Crosscutters commemorate the 35th anniversary of Dave Bresnahan’s Great Potato Caper. Bresnahan created baseball history using a POTATO in a trick play for the Williamsport Bills in 1987, leading to worldwide publicity that continues to this day. To celebrate, the Williamsport Crosscutters will be rebranding to the Great Potato Capers for the August 31 game. The first 1,000 fans attending the game will receive a limited-edition “Potato Ball”. Special Great Potato Caper jerseys, all featuring Bresnahan’s name, will be available to fans in an online auction.

As part of the celebration, the team has introduced exclusive Great Potato Caper merchandise including t-shirts, caps, sweatshirts and more. The limited-edition merchandise is available in the Sawmill Team Store and online at crosscutters.com.
