Deep Thoughts.

These are the best of times and yet the worst of times. Unprecedented times. I continue to pray and send good vibes. But I am very concerned with what is going on. One of the good things about writing a weekly column is that I get to chime in. Yes. I usually share a story about fishing or something from the world of sports. But it has been a few months since I turned a few heads. No. I do not always know the answers. I actually did some research. This is only a humble opinion. I am giving up FACEBOOK.

When did everyone become an expert? I simply don’t understand it. There is so much division. I can’t begin to tell you how frustrating this is. COVID-19 has rocked the entire landscape. And it has really dampened our spirits. Last year was just brutal. I try to forget what happened. Everyone has suffered. Especially our children. Playing sports is a big part. I personally didn’t like being on the fence in 2020. I am a basketball coach, and this is how it went down. We were not allowed in the gym to play until November. Then we finally got the green light. We shut things down a few weeks later. No games. No practice. Nothing. For a month. When we took to the courts in late January, there were very limited fans, and we had to wear masks. Several games were postponed because of contact tracing. It was so frustrating. But my boys never complained. We found a way.

Unfortunately, we are heading in the same direction. Cases are on the rise, and we are not doing anything about it. I do not want to repeat what occurred last winter. Again. I cannot stress how everyone is an expert without any answers. Local School Boards are faced with an extremely difficult task. Asking for their heads or suing them won’t solve any problems. Leave the politics out and do the right thing. And please simply practice what you preach. Some have made wearing masks mandatory. Then some have left it up to the parents. Several are now running to the hills and pleading the fifth. Local MDs are now signing waivers, and the County DA won’t enforce them. There seems to be no solution. It is total bedlam and no common ground.

I am vaxxed. There I said it. I am not a sheep. I am actually a pretty cool person. I don’t care if you follow. It is totally your call, dude. No. I will put my ugly face on a billboard, either. I respect you regardless of YOUR decision. But please do not accuse me of any wrongdoing. I have seen so much division. It is just crazy. Again. I do not know all of the answers. But please have some compassion. I apologize for the rant. I will get back to sports next week. Hopefully, we will make better decisions moving forward. Thanks. Cheers.
