Camp Susque to Offer Drive-Up Internet

Camp Susque is offering drive-up internet for local families who may need additional network connectivity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many families in our rural area of Trout Run have limited internet options during a time when schools are switching to remote learning and many businesses are moving meetings toward video conferences. The need for consistent and high-speed internet is more pronounced now than any other time, and Camp Susque is happy to support families that may need temporary access to high speed internet for remote learning, video conferencing, or even just to keep up with loved ones.
Thanks to the hard work and generosity of River Valley Internet and KINBER (Keystone Initiative for Network Based Education and Research), Camp Susque’s wireless network has been expanded and increased to allow public use in Susque’s parking lot from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., seven days a week, until further notice.

Camp Susque is located just 15 minutes north of Williamsport along Route 14 in Trout Run. Those who need this service can come, park in Susque’s parking lot, and access Susque’s wireless network from the comfort of their vehicles. This may have particular use for those in rural areas with limited internet options who have children with remote learning opportunities through their school district, or for families that just need an opportunity to catch up on email and social media for a time.

Unfortunately, because Susque is also serving as a host-site for health-care professionals who are seeking self-isolation, none of the rest of Susque’s facilities are available to those using the drive-up internet. Restrooms are not available during this time, and Susque requests that all users remain in their cars and follow appropriate social distancing methods. The service is offered “as is” and technical support is very limited while Susque’s office hours are minimal.

If you have questions about this service and its availability, or if you would like to provide financial support to Susque to help offset expenses related to their community COVID-19 efforts, please email director@susque.org or call Susque’s office at 570-998-2151.

This service is available at 47 Susque Camp Road, Trout Run PA 17771.
