The Seasons are Quickly Approaching

Well, I think it’s safe to say winter is practically behind us. These 60-degree days have just been amazing for March! In fact, my kids and I went to the bike path last week. They had a Monday off for in-service, and it was 65 degrees out. We loaded up their bikes, I packed us a picnic, and off we went to Heshbon Park to enjoy the beautiful weather. Now, I didn’t ride a bike. Ohhh, lawd no. I walked. They don’t make bicycle seats big enough for my butt. HAHA!!!

The day before, I actually got to take our motorcycle for a spin, which I can’t remember the last time we got them out in March. And oh, my goodness, I was literally just gonna say as I am typing this, I’m hearing a motorcycle go by my house. Well, the bike sounded closer and closer and was pulling up my driveway! Here, it was my brother bringing up my other bike for me from my dad’s house. God bless my dad; he keeps five bikes in his basement for all of us over the winter months in his newly built house, so they are kept in the heat. He even keeps them on a trickle charger for us. Good ol’ dad takes good care of us! Dad has always taught us to wait for a good rain to get the salt and cinders off the road before we hit the open road. But yesterday he said, “Why don’t you and your brother take your bikes around the block!?” We live in the country. A block can be 10 miles if you want it to be! *insert evil smile here*

We did a quick (under 10 mile) ride and enjoyed every darn minute of it. Nothing like that first ride. Anyways, I really wasn’t gonna babble on about motorcycles, but the words just come out my fingers to you. (I could talk motorcycles all day, and guys, they have big comfy seats for bigger butts!)

So, when it’s nice outside, you automatically want to grill! Right? I got 8lbs of chicken out of my freezer this morning to grill for dinner with homemade mac n’ cheese, roasted veggies, and salad. Then I come home and realize my chicken was still frozen solid in my sink! This is why I always prep my chicken when I first buy it! I didn’t do that a few weeks ago because of everything going on around here and had enough chicken prepared in my freezer at the time. Oh well. So instead of grilling, we had to order a pizza from good ol’ Pudgies Pizza! None of us complained. It was amazing! I mean, after all, I got an amazing cardio workout in the morning, then walked over two miles with my kids on their bikes and was active outside all day. We never get a weekday pizza, so it was a treat. It feels good to have park season here, walking season, motorcycle season, riverlot season, grillin’ season, camping season, and all the above! Guys, we have about made it!! Can I get a “YAHOOOO!!!!!!?”

Hawaiian BBQ Kabobs

Ingredients:

• 1 pound of sliced baked ham (from the deli)
• Pineapple cut into chunks
• 1 orange pepper cut into small squares
• Kabob sticks (soaked in water)
• Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce

Roll each ham slice up, then fold like a fan and place through the end of the kabob stick. Then add pineapple, ending with orange pepper. Repeat until the stick is full and brush on BBQ sauce. Place on grill and cook until nice and brown. You can add more BBQ sauce while grilling.

These little babies were so delish!
