James E. Stewart, 71

James E. Stewart, 71, of Cogan Station passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at his residence.
Born December 12, 1946 in Williamsport he was a son of the late James H. and Elizabeth M. Hower Gottschall.

James was a graduate of South Williamsport High School. He was formerly employed as a car salesman for Blaise Alexander Kia.

James attended Christian Church at Cogan Station. He was a former Captain of the Hiawatha. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, shooting, bird watching and loved spending time with his dog Bailey.

Surviving is his wife of 24 years, Julie A. Best Stewart; children, James (Mary) Stewart, Jr. of Springfield, Angie Stewart, Robbie Stewart both of Middletown, Terri Gibbs of Williamsport, Thomas (Tina Baier) Dempsey of Montoursville, Scott (Kim) Dempsey of Montoursville, Christopher (Brooke) Dempsey of Williamsport, James (Stacy Regel) Dempsey of Williamsport; grandchildren, Tony, Nathan, Elizabeth, Zach, Mason, Drewan, Brennan, Ahnalya and Ellie; siblings Robert Gottschall and Donna Rice both of South Williamsport; and two nieces Amanda and Karen Rice.

He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Gottschall.

A memorial service to honor the life of James will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street with Pastor Mark Beard, officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 East Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
