“We the People” are so very blessed to call the United States of America our home. The absolute freedoms we enjoy and often take for granted, are not an option for the majority of people around the world. The land and prosperity of our Nation are why everyone wants to immigrate to America, and no one wants out. That opportunity for the American Dream, which begins with the promises penned by our Forefathers.
Our Nation has been blessed from its earliest days by patriots that would give all to create and preserve life in America as we know it. The American soldier has been the provider and protector of freedom.
“We remember those who were called upon to give all a person can give, and we remember those who were prepared to make that sacrifice if it were demanded of them in the line of duty, though it never was. Most of all, we remember the devotion and gallantry with which all of them ennobled their nation as they became champions of a noble cause.” – President Ronald Regan.
On this Veterans Day, let’s honor and thank our servicemen and women for our one nation under God, for always being on duty, and protecting us from evil at home and around the world.
There are so many ways to show your appreciation; the best may be just a sincere, “Thank you for your service to our Country.” To make it a point to reach out and appreciate these most special folks within our communities. Another way to honor our veterans is by educating our young people about our history and the price of freedom. That they are real American heroes that deserve thanks and praise, but would never ask for, or expect it. That they honor serving our Country with respect and modesty.
If you want to do more, there are parades, benefits, dinners and many events honoring our local veterans. Something can be found in every community. Please reach out to an organization that supports our Veterans every day of the year if you would like to make a donation.
“In order to insure proper and widespread observance of this anniversary, all veterans, all veterans’ organizations, and the entire citizenry will wish to join hands in the common purpose.” – President Dwight D. Eisenhower
At this point in American history, our Country needs to join hands for a common purpose. The division, no matter by what means, must end. Republicans, Democrats, liberals, conservatives — we must work together to solve problems and preserve our One Nation. There is no better way to honor our veterans and all that came before us than passing down a strong nation and the very freedoms we have been blessed with. Of course, that’s a much more difficult request for Veterans Day, although it really shouldn’t be.
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” President John F. Kennedy
From all of us at Webb Weekly, a sincere heartfelt thank you to our veterans and active servicemen and women around the world.
God Bless You and America.

There are so many wonderful things done for veterans around our area, I thank and appreciate everyone’s efforts. It is great to see the amazing patriotism locally.
I would like to single out one, however. George Heim and the good people at Ultimate Express Car Wash. On Veterans Day for the past several years, they wash veterans’ and active military personnel’s vehicles at no charge. A great way to say thank you for your service. In total there four locations, Williamsport, Montgomery, Danville, and Shamokin have provided almost $25,000 in car washes to our military members from ages 18–89.
One gentleman shared his story with Mr. Heim and I must share it with you. He was a World War II veteran who was a belly gunner in a B-17. He actually lied about his age to serve his Country in World War II; he was only 17. He stated, “Most of us didn’t come back,” and was grateful for the car wash. Mr. Heim replied, “Thank you, sir, and it is an honor to give you this car wash.”
A little thanks and appreciation goes a long way.
A Webb Weekly salute for your efforts. Thank you.
