Wilford W. Wertman, 87

Born July 23, 1930 in Middleport, he was a son of the late Earl “Tom” and Bertha (Kile) Wertman. He married the former Elsie P. Stackhouse, who preceded him in death on January 14, 2001.

Bob was honorably discharged from the US Army, serving during the Korean War. Early in his career, Bob worked at his father’s green house on Beaver Run Road. Prior to his retirement, Bob worked at Sprout Waldron, now Andritz of Muncy. He also worked at Country Homes Builder of Unityville for many years. He enjoyed fishing in Canada, western movies, professional wrestling, and working on televisions and electronics. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his Pekingese dogs through the years.

He is survived by a daughter, Sue A. (Rodney) Shaner of Hughesville; two sons, Dean E. (Tami) Wertman and Michael R. Wertman both of Hughesville; four granddaughters, Mandy Adams, Monica (Kris) Robbins, Tanya (Jason) Rutt, and Meghan (Tony) Little; and eight great grandchildren

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, William, and Earl Jr., Wertman.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14 at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, PA with Rev. Max L. Walters, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lairdsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
