Wayne L. “Sonny” Fulmer, 81, of Muncy Valley, died Saturday, February 9, 2019 at his home.
Born June 10, 1937 in Sayre, he was a son of the late Eugene E. and Bertha I. (Snyder) Fulmer. He and his wife, the former Ruth A. Gunther, celebrated 59 years of marriage on March 17, 2018.
Wayne served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the American Legion Post 601, Sonestown. He was employed by the former Cosgrove & Stepp, Laporte, and retired in 1996 from Silvertip, Inc., Lewisburg, after having worked there for over 30 years. Wayne was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 520, the Valley United Methodist Church, Muncy Valley, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving, in addition to his wife are two daughters, Dawn (Steve) Myers of Muncy Valley, and Denise (Theodore) Thomas of Montoursville; two sisters, JoAnn Dunn of Dushore, and Dorothy Baker of Wyalusing; a step-brother, George Brown of Dushore; seven grandchildren, Samantha Myers, Chelsea (Matt) Blair, Rachael (Benjamin) Hoover, Leah Thomas, Elizabeth (Russell) Double, Macey Fulmer, and Mark Woodhead Jr.; nine great-grandchildren, Xian Woodhead, Natalie Woodhead, Thaddeus Woodhead, Mercer Double, Wylder Double, Mina Hoover, Beric Hoover, Caiden Loudenslager, and Rosie Woodhead.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Fulmer Jr.; a daughter, Donna Fulmer Shur; a grandson, Michael Woodhead; three sisters, Geraldine Pehonich, Ruth Marshal, and Pauline Mulcahy; and two brothers, Carl Fulmer, and Glenn Fulmer.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, with Pastor Zachary Woods officiating. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
