Richard F. McClain, 91

Richard F. McClain, 91, of Hughesville died Thursday, February 7, 2019 at The Gatehouse.

Born February 7, 1928 in Hughesville, he was a son of the late John E. and Edna Mae (Egly) McClain.

Dick was a graduate of Hughesville High School, Class of 1946. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 35, Hughesville, where he served as past commander and on the Honor Guard Detail. Dick was also a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 35.

Surviving are a niece, Lauren D. Watts of Hughesville; two nephews, Daniel F. (Jennifer) McClain, and Robert E. (Teresa) McClain, both of Hughesville; and four great-nephews, Ryan E. McClain, Matthew F. McClain, Sean R. McClain, and Nathan J. McClain.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. McClain.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, with Chaplain Thomas M. Brokaw officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville, with graveside military honors accorded by combined veteran’s organizations. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
