Richard D. “Dick” Funk, 87

Richard D. “Dick” Funk, 87, of rural Watsontown, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in McEwensville on April 19, 1936, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Ada (Bortz) Funk. On November 5, 1958 he married the former Betty J. Stackhouse and they have celebrated 65 years of marriage.

He was a graduate of Watsontown High School where he was a member of the FFA, and he served in the US Army reserves for eight years. He had worked at Pullman Power Company for 23 years and later retired from Robert Feaster Corp. of Northumberland. Earlier in life he was a farmer and enjoyed showing pigs at the PA farm show in Harrisburg. He had also been a bus driver for Warrior Run School District and caretaker of the Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.

He enjoyed working on small engines and lawn mowers, collecting train sets, and square-dancing in his younger years.

Surviving besides his wife, Betty Funk are four sons: Roger L. Funk and his companion Kathy Mutchler of Jersey Shore; Steve D. Funk of Muncy; Larry R. Funk and his wife Terri of Hughesville; and Gary L. Funk and his wife Marcy of McEwensville; a daughter, Teresa K. Puderbaugh of Benton; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and a sister, June McNutt of Williamsport.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was a daughter, Carol J. Funk; a sister, Hilda Lupold, and a brother, Dr. Robert Funk.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Brooks Funeral Home and Cremation Svc., PC, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville where a funeral service will begin at 10:30. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
