Paul R. Shaner, 87, of Hughesville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Williamsport Home.

Born October 20, 1936, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Oscar and Blanche (Craig) Shaner. Paul was a graduate of Hughesville High School. He was a self-employed carpenter, and was pastor of St. Marks Church, Lairdsville, for many years. Paul was a member of Lodge #299, F.&A.M., Muncy, and a veteran of the US Air Force. He loved the outdoors, especially mowing lawns and working outside. Paul’s greatest treasure was his love he had for the Lord, his Savior, and for his family. He loved every family gathering, every car ride, his wonderful dog, Maggie, and his granddaughters.

Surviving are two daughters, Paula Taylor, of Hughesville, and Kellie (Duane) Gordner, of Hughesville; three granddaughters, Marissa Taylor (fiancé Joseph Gaffney), of Saint Clair, Sarah Taylor, of Hughesville, and Bailey Gordner, of Hughesville; two great grandchildren, Irene and Joey Gaffney; and numerous extended family and friends who treated Paul like gold.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Carroll A. (Vermeulen) Shaner, who passed on March 21, 2004, and by his second wife of 17 years, Donna L. (Reece) Shaner, who passed on August 11, 2023; a son-in-law, David R.W. Taylor; and eight siblings, Verus Shaner, Arthur Shaner, Carrie Fry, Archie Shaner, Carl Shaner, Mary Peters, Harland Shaner, and Sarah Harman.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2024, at St. Mark’s Church of Lairdsville, with Rev. Dan Cale and Rev. David Harman, officiating. Burial will follow at Muncy Cemetery, Muncy, PA. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Mark’s Church.
