Nellie “Jane” Buhl, 81

Nellie “Jane” Buhl, 81, of Hughesville, died Friday, October 2, 2026, at UPMC Muncy Hospital. Born August 30, 1945, in Wytheville, VA, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Blevins) Pugh.

After attending Avon Grove High School, Jane worked numerous jobs over the years. Most notably, she worked at BB’s Grocery Outlet, NVF for 16 years, and Home Depot for another 16 years until retiring.

On March 31, 1973, Jane married the love of her life, James C. Buhl. Jane was a loving wife, mother, and nanny who cherished her family more than anything, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had many pets over the years that she loved dearly. An avid bingo player, she could often be found playing at Moose Lodge 866 in Hughesville, where she was a member. When she wasn’t playing bingo, she enjoyed shopping, puzzles, and word searches.

Surviving in addition to her husband James of Hughesville are four children, Laura (Woody Atwood) Couram of Oxford, Howard (Katherine) McNamee, III of Coatesville, Michael (Suzanne) Buhl of Gordonville, and Brenda (Allen) Blittersdorf of Kirkwood; a sister, Betty (Mark) Mozeke of Niceville, FL; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Eva.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by three siblings.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2026, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home – Hughesville, 557 E. Water St. Hughesville, Pennsylvania, with Pastor Martin Coffey officiating. Burial will take place privately at a later date. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
