Michael Pstrak, 91, of Montoursville, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Ravine Ridge. He was born February 25, 1926 in Breslau, PA a son of Louis and Anna Tchir Pstrak.
Michael was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and retired as Chief Engineer of Quality Control at P.P.G. Industries. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the US Navy as a radio man. He was a member of Holy Cross Orthodox Church and the Duboistown VFW Post 7863. Michael enjoyed many hobbies and was best known by community members for his hand-crafted airplanes made from soda cans.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 67 years, the former Helen D. Ditchko, brothers, Louis and John and sisters, Mary Mikula, Julia Fortunak, Helen Staples and his infant sister Sophie.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy A. Grausam of Montoursville; grandchildren, Meredith (Corry) Boatwright, Michael C. (Mariell) Grausam and great granddaughter, Natalie.
The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 1725 Holy Cross Lane, Williamsport with The Very Reverend Daniel Kovalak officiating. Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St. Montoursville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those wishing to honor Michael’s life may make a memorial contribution to Holy Cross Orthodox Church. He was very grateful for the many kindnesses extended by the parishioners.
