Mary Elizabeth (Hall) “Troubling Bear” Phillips left earth to go beyond to join our creator, the Heavenly Father, family, and ancestors on April 23, 2024. She was surrounded by her children.

(John) Skidmore-Trump of Vineland, NJ, Samantha T (Anthony) Skidmore-Milone of Danbury CT. and Charles D (Chasity) Phillips of Muncy. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings, David L Hall of Muncy, Betty Hall Little of Hughesville, and John Hall of Benton, and sister-in-law, Delores Phillips of Williamsport.

Mary was known as the “Ma” to all. She was Cook or Cookie, Grammy, Great Grammy and Troubling Bear.

Mary did work at Muncy Valley Hospital, Relda’s sewing factory, and Brodart over the years. She was known for her collection of salt and pepper shakers, crocheting (especially baby blankets), needlepoint, sewing, beadwork, jewelry making, canning, gardening, and gifting.

After 2002, Mary and her brother David connected to their roots with the Susquehanna Matis (susquehannox indians). She gifted from her heart, giving jewelry to the children at powwows and collecting donations for Christmas presents given to children at local hospitals.

Cookie loved playing chess with Charlie, fishing, picnicing and hunting. She always would get the first deer on the first shot to the envy of Charlie. Mary would spend weeks in Connecticut with her daughter, Deana and granddaughter Willow, when she wasn’t traveling to a powwow.

Mary taught her children how to love unselfishly, to always give whatever she (one) could to another, to listen with an open heart, and to forgive one another. Mom makes kindness, empathy, honesty, compassion, faith, and family, the rules of life.

A special thank you to everyone who made “Ma” Feel loved, special, made her laugh, and showed you genuinely cared.

Mom, We love you to infinity!
