Margaret G. “Peggy” Roskowski, 93

Margaret G. “Peggy” Roskowski, a cherished and devoted matriarch, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024 peacefully at home after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was a beacon of love and generosity throughout her 93 years.

Born September 7, 1930, in Liberty, Peggy was a daughter of the late Herbert and Josephine (Wasiski) Werline.

Peggy graduated from high school and Miss Wheaton’s School of Business where she earned an associate’s degree. She devoted her life to nurturing her home and family, always placing their needs and happiness above her own. Her home was a warm and welcoming haven for all who entered. In addition to her family life, Peggy was a dedicated member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She married her late husband, John B. Roskowski, in 1951.

Peggy’s interests and passions painted the canvas of her life. An avid golfer, she was a familiar face at the Williamsport Country Club and spent cherished moments with friends and family at the Wheel Inn, Country Cupboard and David’s Dream restaurant. Her love for antiquing was evident in the unique treasures that adorned her home, each piece with its own story. Peggy also found great joy in her second home in Cape May, NJ, where she developed many close friendships. Known for her impeccable taste, Peggy delighted in a good Apple martini and relished time spent with family where laughter and stories were shared over hearty meals. Her spirit of giving extended beyond her family, as she was known for her generous support of charities, touching many lives with her kindness. Her favorite holiday was Christmas where she always insisted on having a real tree.

Peggy’s love for her family was unrivaled. She is survived by her daughter, Lynnette Michaels (Ken); seven grandchildren, Tanya Slingerland (Matt), Jeremy (Tara) Michaels, John (Andrea), Louis (Tonique), Adam (Samantha), Joseph (Elena Thomas) Roskowski, and Kristy (Zachary) Martin; and her 14 great-grandchildren whom she adored, Emma, Madison, Dean, Brianna, Brantley, Gianluca, Adriana, Louis, Eliana, Calum, Isla, Theodore, Felix, and Vincent. She also leaves behind many extended relatives and dear friends.

In addition to her parents and her late husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John M. Roskowski and four siblings Greta, Annie, Frances, and Stanley.

Loved ones will remember Peggy as the embodiment of love, kindness, and generosity. Her warm smile and gentle nature will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 23, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 800 West Central Ave., South Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
