Jon F. Vetter, 74

Jon F. Vetter, 74, of Hughesville died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Williamsport Regional Medical Center. He is the husband of Sharon L. (Sones) Vetter and would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on February 7, 2018.

Born December 14, 1943, in Montgomery, he is the son of the late Clifford J. and Dora (Fogelman) Vetter. Jon was a graduate of Montgomery High School, and served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. Prior to his retirement he was employed at Montgomery Mills, and then worked as a custodian at East Lycoming School, and the Pennsylvania Dept. of Corrections, Muncy. In his younger years, he raised Doberman Pinscher dogs, and enjoyed running and playing tennis. Jon was an avid Penn State Football fan, and enjoyed playing chess. He cherished spending time with his loving wife Sharon, and his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife Sharon, is a granddaughter, Kristin R. (William) Walters of Hallstead; two grandsons, Robert M. Munns of Hughesville, and William D. Munns of Hughesville; two great-grandchildren, JoElla A. Munns, and Victor G. Walters; two sisters, Anita Schmeck of Topton, and Cynthia Fritz of Hughesville; a nephew, Mark Yonkin; and his Mother-In-Law, Frances I. Sones of Muncy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Brenda Woodley, Teresa Munns; and a grandson, Joel Kitchen.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 12, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, with Pastor Sam Astin officiating. Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery, with graveside military honors by combined veteran’s organizations. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jon’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
