James L. Hans Sr., 86, of Turbotville, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born November 8, 1939 in rural Watsontown, he was a son of the late Clifton Sr. and Evelyn (Middlesworth) Hans.
Earlier in life he worked at Montgomery Mills, and later retired from American Home Foods in Milton. Most recently he was the owner/operator of JH Flagger, driving pilot vehicles. James was a member of the Watsontown Masonic Lodge 401.
He loved vehicles, owning and working on various mustangs over the years. James was never afraid to tackle a new project and would just figure it out along the way. When he was younger he enjoyed riding motorcycles and would help his father working on them in his shop. Also, he loved traveling all over taking various drives just to be on the open road.
James is survived by his companion of over 35 years: Diane Lamey; three children: James L. Hans Jr and his wife Sue, of Allenwood; Karen L. Herr and her husband James, of Muncy, and David W. Hans and his wife Heather, of Turbotville; two grandchildren: Harrison and Preston Hans; numerous nieces and nephews; three brothers: Donald, Clifton Jr., and Keith Hans; two sisters: Darlene Grove and Genevieve Walburn; and his beloved dog, Chewy, who would travel with him everywhere.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Hans and Fay Higgins.
There will be a graveside service held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 31st at Presbyterian Cemetery. McEwensville, with William Spencer, officiating.
