Faye A. James, 89, a former resident of Williamsport and Altoona, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 in the Valley View Nursing Center at Montoursville. Born Monday, December 21, 1931 at Montgomery, Lycoming Co., PA, she was a daughter of the late Lester P. and Pearl (Wertman) Page. She was the widow of J. Richard James who preceded her in death on April 7, 2018. They were married on September 2, 1950. His death broke a blissful marriage of over 67 years.
She was a 1950 graduate of Montgomery/Clinton High School. In 1972 her family moved to Altoona and lived there until moving back to Williamsport in 2015. While living in Altoona Faye worked in various security positions.
Faye was a member of Clinton Baptist Church at Montgomery and a former member of Logan Valley Baptist Church at Bellwood. She volunteered at the Bellwood Senior Center, was very active in the Ladies of the Shrine and served as Past High Priestess of the Jobel Court in 1996-97. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by two children, Carol (Fredrick) Grasty of Montgomery and David James of Altoona and her daughter-in-law, Karen James of Duncanville, TX. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; Marsha Dieffenderfer, Melinda (Robert) Irwin, Joshua (Jessica) Childs all of Montgomery; Brandon Grasty of Orlando, FL; Laurie Grasty of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Stephania (Jed) Rigby, Michael (Sasha) James, Stephen James, Jenni (Dustin) Perkins, Jacob (Nikki) Blair all from the Dallas TX area; Diane Turquette of Los Angeles, CA and Mario DiPippo, Nichole (Tyler) Glunt and Danielle DiPippo all of the Altoona area. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lester P. (Donna) Page of Prattville, AL. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jim (JR, Jr.) James on March 11, 2019; her daughter-in-law Antoinetta James on May 12, 2020 and her sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Charles Duchman, both in 2012.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. from the Clinton Baptist Church, 60 Warren Street, Montgomery, PA 17752 with David Jacobs , her pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:30 – 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park.
