Duane L. Poole, 74

Duane L. Poole, 74, Turbotville, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home, Millmont.

Born August 3, 1943 in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, he was the son of the late Earl and Ethel (Hayes) Poole. On August 29, 1968 he married the former BettyAnn Sterf and they have celebrated 49 years of marriage.

He was a 1961 graduate of Hempfield High School, Greensburg, and served with the US Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a truck driver for Cooper-Jarrett, Preston Trucking, SNL and retiring from Brown Trucking in 2006.

He was a member of Greensburg United Church of Christ, the NRA, and Hempfield #2 Fire Department of Greensburg. He was a past-president and member of the former McEwensville Fire Company.

Duane enjoyed hunting, gardening, playing cards and his two pets, Sprinkles and Ramses. He loved times spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially loved the babies.

Surviving besides his wife, BettyAnn are two sons: Gregory Andricak and his wife Kim, Turbotville, and Chad Poole, of Elizabethtown, KY; two daughters: Michelle Horst, Bainbridge, and Pagie Poole, San Francisco, CA; six grandchildren: Todd (Allison) Horst, Jeff (Megan) Horst, Kayla Horst, Melissa Andricak and fiancé Michael Rohm, Joshua Andricak, and Kyle Andricak and fiancé Brittany Nicholas; nine great-grandchildren: Madison, Sylar, Mia, Weston, Malaki, Lucas, Lincoln, Dean, and Alexis; three brothers: David (Cathy) Poole, Winchester, IN, Darwin “Coonie” (Perri) Poole, Latrobe, and Dale (Wendy) Poole, Greensburg.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Poole and a great-grandson, Peyton Andricak.

Friends and family are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc, PC, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville and from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Thursday at Holy Spirit Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10275 Route 44, Watsontown where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Thomas Glasoe, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.
