Dennis Michael Callahan, 71

Dennis Michael Callahan, 71, of 623 E. Main St., Lock Haven, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Lock Haven on February 19, 1946, the son of the late Harry R. and Lucille J. Keller Callahan.

Dennis served as Class President for his Lock Haven High School class of 1964. He then attended Milligan College of Tennessee graduating in 1969 with his Bachelor’s degree in Theology and was currently in the process of obtaining his Master’s degree.

Dennis was active in his ministry work in conjunction with his employment as a Deputy Sheriff for Pinellas County, Florida for many years until his retirement. Following his retirement, he moved back to Lock Haven and founded the Chaplain position at Susque View Home, serving in that position until his passing. He was very passionate about his work as a Chaplain and was equally embraced and loved by the residents and staff at Susque View Home.

He was also an accomplished singer and sang in several choirs and at numerous weddings over the years. He also officiated a number of funerals, mostly for residents of Susque View Home. In his leisure time, Dennis cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

Dennis was a member of the Lock Haven First Church of Christ, where he recently became ordained and served as a Deacon.

He is survived by two sons, Andrew M. (Debby) Callahan and Seth D. Callahan, both of Florida; two sisters, Margaret (Ronald) Jodun of Flemington and Colleen (Timothy) Noone of Virginia; two beloved grandchildren, Arwyn and Drayven Callahan of Florida; and multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2p.m. at the Lock Haven First Church of Christ, 330 N. Vesper St., Lock Haven, Pa 17745 with Rev. Steve Salmon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dennis’ name may be made to the Susque View Resident Memorial Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa 17745.
