Born May 17, 1936, in Montoursville, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Glenna (Kresge) Lauchle. She married her husband, the late Harry P. Tupper, and the two enjoyed 46 loving years of marriage until his passing on March 10, 2003.
A 1954 graduate of Hughesville High School, Alvena worked for decades as a secretary for the Lycoming County Magistrate Office until her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, and listening to classic country music. Her daughter lovingly remembers Alvena stacking the stereo on Saturdays to enjoy her music while she cleaned. Above all, Alvena was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Williamsport but also attended Heilman United Methodist Church, Montoursville when she was able.
Surviving is her daughter, Elaine (Andrew) Gretzula of Williamsport; her sisters, Helen M. Mayer and Gail (Archie) Eppler both of Montoursville; two grandchildren, Lachelle and Marc Gretzula; and her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alvena was preceded in death by three siblings, Earl D. Lauchle, Morton “Dutch” E. Lauchle, and Rita A. Lauchle; and an infant son.
