Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited Picnic and Meeting
What: Want to learn about our local TU Chapter activities and conservation projects, the how-to of trout fishing, share some stories, or maybe try out fly casting? Maybe you’d like to bring your equipment and fish in Lycoming Creek? The public is invited to a picnic and outdoor meeting of the Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Hotdogs, corn-on-the-cob, and drinks provided. Participants encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
When: Wednesday, September 9th. Meet, greet and picnic to begin at 5:30 p.m. and activities to follow.
Where: Trout Run Park Pavilion located just south of the village of Trout Run and can be accessed from the old Rt 15 highway.

Audubon Event: Skyline Drive Bird Walk
What: This will be a doubleheader! Skyline Drive is closed to vehicular traffic, but the paved road is walkable, gently ascending the slope of Bald Eagle Mountain. At 10AM, we will move to the Route 15 overlook with its easy parking, handicapped accessible, and the spectacular view of the Susquehanna Valley. We expect to see and hear resident sylvan birds typical of a mixed PA forest. Fall warblers, migrating hawks, and the perennial residents of the woods. All are welcome to join!

Where: Parking area/rest stop off Route 15 SOUTH, 3 miles from Beiter’s Furniture in South Williamsport. **Note** There is no access from Route 15 North, use the jug handle 1 mile past Scenic Overlook to backtrack.
Community Clean Up
What: Annual fall litter clean up sponsored by the Newberry Community Partnership. All supplies will be provided. Children are welcome with an adult. Pizza will be served to all participants at noon.

“CCC of Little Pine”
What: Join the park naturalist and learn about the work of the “CCC of Little Pine,” the culture in CCC camps, and how the CCC prepared some to be well-disciplined World War II veterans. All children must be accompanied by an adult to participate. Program may be modified or cancelled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines. Meet at the amphitheater.

“Fall Ambience”
What: Join the naturalist for a relaxing evening to hear “Fall Ambience.” Topics of discussion will center around what is being heard. This is designed to be an informal program. What: Muncy Lodge No. 299 F & A.M. invites the community to an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner. PA 250: Folk Healing in the Keystone State
What: Explore Pennsylvania’s role in nature-based wellness in the 1700’s. Learn how healers utilized knowledge of native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and other natural materials in their healing remedies. This session will touch on knowledge collected from Indigenous nations and the early settlers of the Appalachian Mountain region. During this session you will be invited to explore the folk healing ingredients still found in Ricketts Glen State Park. This session offers a historical look at wellness practices in the 1700’s. There will be NO diagnosing, treating, or prescribing at this session. This is not a medical plants “how to” program.

Geology Talk and Walk
What: Simeon Suter, retired Geologist from the Pennsylvania Geological Survey will give a presentation on the “Geology of Waterfalls” at the Visitor Center. Then we will go on a geologic tour with some hiking and driving, so please wear sturdy boots! Monarch Tagging
What: During this program you will have the opportunity to participate as a citizen scientist for Monarch Watch, a conservation and research program based at the University of Kansas. Participants will learn to catch, handle, and tag monarch butterflies. We will also discuss current conservation efforts and ways that you can help the species to thrive throughout its life cycle. Audubon Event: Chapter Meeting and Program
What: Join us for a program featuring Dr. Morrison’s experiences on her 3-week summer 2025 photosafari to South Africa. Dr. Morrison’s work revolves around a variety of topics, including birds and other fauna. We’ll discuss the state of wildlife conservation efforts and the challenges of conservation both in South Africa and beyond. Come wonder at the dazzling variety of wildlife that survive and thrive in the extreme environments of South Africa!
