Spring is Close!

I say it every year, and it’s no less true this year. I’ve come to mark the beginning of spring with the West Branch Builders Home Show. I know spring isn’t far away when it is time for the Home Show. Webb Weekly has a booth at the show every year and this year is no different. We will be upstairs at booth #266 — so be sure to come by and see us.

As usual we are doing to a giveaway, so stop by to register to win an amazing grilling package! We are giving away a Kenmore, four burner grill from Elery Nau Hardware and to make sure you can start using the grill right away, we are also throwing in a $100 gift card to Rupert’s Specialty Meats so you can grab some steaks to grill!

The whole Webb Weekly staff will be there at some point throughout the weekend, so stop by and say hey!

If you haven’t attended the Home Show before, I highly recommend it! The Home Show is a great opportunity to get a handle on all those spring and summer home improvement projects you have lined up. No matter what project you have in mind you can find someone to help at the Home Show. Everyone at the West Branch Builders Association does an awesome job getting the show put together.

The Builders also give away (3) $750 gift certificates so be sure to enter to win those! That could go a long way toward spring projects! Admission is $5, but if you bring a can of food you can save a buck.

To find out all the details on the show, be sure to read Lou’s article on page 6.

May Your Troubles Be Less and Your Blessings Be More…

There doesn’t seem to be a lot in the way of official/organized events for St. Paddy’s Day happening this weekend. Maybe that’s a sign we should all stay home and do something fun with friends and family.

If you have kiddos at home, here is a fun craft to celebrate St. Patrick at home!

Coffee Can Leprechaun Hat

Materials:

  • Clean coffee can with a lid
  • Black and green paint (Acrylic works best, is in expensive and readily available)
  • Paint brush
  • Black and yellow construction paper
  • Green construction paper or a cereal box
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions:

OPTIONAL: Cut a small slit in the middle of the lid if you would like to use your leprechaun hat to collect spare change.

Paint the bottom inch or two of the can black. Let dry.

Put the lid on the can and paint the can green but leaving a ring at the bottom black. Let dry.

Cut a green circle out of construction paper. We used a plate to trace the circle first. If you do not have green construction paper you can cut the circle from a cardboard box like a cereal box and paint it green.

Glue this green circle to the bottom of the can to make a brim for the hat.

Cut a square with rounded corners out of a piece of yellow construction paper. The yellow square should be a little bigger than the black stripe at the bottom of the can.

Cut a slightly smaller square with rounded corners out of black construction paper.

Cut a small notch out of the side of the black square so it looks like a “C”. (See picture)

Glue the notched black square on the yellow square and glue the yellow square to the hat to look like a buckle. (See finished photo above.)

If you decide to cut a slit in the lid of the coffee you can use it to collect spare change for your favorite charity.

If you are more a fan of adult type activities for St. Paddy’s Day, please be safe. Cabs, Uber and Lyft are all available to make sure you and yours get home safe and sound!
