On Saturday, August 15th, Sulphyr Springs held its annual Youth Shoot, drawing 59 young competitors and their parents or guardians. Every kid was given a goodie bag from the PA Game Commission, a Nutri Grain bar, and hearing and eye protection.
Participants competed across three distinct age divisions: 8 and under, 9-12, and 13-16. Each shooter was given five shots, with a winner in each age division.
Nicholas Harvey won the 8 and under division and a BB gun. In 2nd place was Lucas Yeagle.
In the 9-12 division, Wesley Prior took 1st, winning a Savage .22, with Cash Lookwood placing 2nd.
Camden Trimble took first in the 13-16 division, winning a Savage .22, with 2nd place going to Phillip Spencer.
All the runners-up were awarded $25 gift cards.
A 4th gun was given as a prize in a special drawing, with every kid having a chance to win it.
Lunch was provided for all participants, and the day concluded with homemade ice cream. But the real cherry on top was the smiles on everyone’s faces.
Events like this continue a proud tradition of promoting firearm safety, marksmanship, and outdoor recreation. The success of the day relies heavily on the patience and expertise of club members, including the 18 who volunteered their time. Especially those individuals who helped work the range.

Established in 1941, the club hosts precision shooting events, including specialized rimfire matches and International Benchrest Shooters (IBS) competitions. The club features a 100-yard range as well as pistol and trap ranges.
