Mountie QUEST and Some Other Stuff…

Mountie QUEST and Some Other Stuff…

I want to take a second to tell you about an office visit and fundraiser.

For those of you who don’t know, I graduated from South Williamsport in 19-mind-your-own-business. At the time, my guidance counselor was Fred Wood. Mr. Wood stops in the office to see me from time to time, and I always appreciate his visits. I can’t remember what I had for dinner last night, but he can remember students he worked with decades ago!

When he stopped in this week, though, he needed a favor — and I’m happy to help where I can.

Mr. Wood is a board member of a South Williamsport non-profit called Mountie QUEST (Quality Experiences for Students). Mountie QUEST provides students in the South Williamsport School District with “financial assistance for enriching experiences beyond the classroom.”

They give aid to students for field trips, arts and athletic opportunities, and other occasions that extend beyond the classroom, and it is accessible to all students regardless of financial need.

Right now, they are running a capital campaign to raise $10,000 to meet future student needs.

Called the 100 by 100 campaign. They are looking for 100 donors to each donate $100 to the cause, with a goal of reaching $10,000 by September 1st.

It is limited to the first 100 donors, and donors will be recognized with a yard sign at their End of Campaign celebration.

If you would like to donate, you can use the GiveButter link on their FB page or mail a check payable to Mountie QUEST to South Williamsport Area School District, 515 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport, 17702. Please put MQ 100×100 in the “for” section and a note including how you’d like your name displayed on the sign.

You can learn more about Mountie QUEST and their giving on their Facebook page.

And if you know someone who could use their help, reach out at mountiequest@gmail.com.

I know Jimmy mentioned it, but if you haven’t gotten down to the Lycoming County Fair yet, you still have a couple of days to enjoy the fun. We went down last weekend and had a great time!

I’m a fair-food girly for sure. Deep-fried anything, followed by ice cream and funnel cake, and I am a happy girl! Plus, there are always cute animals around to pet and great artwork from local students to check out. The county fair always has something for everyone!

I also want to take a moment to thank everyone for their support on social media. We’ve had a couple of local pups go missing due to the Fourth of July fireworks, and the amount of sharing and spreading the word that you have done via our Facebook to help get these furbabies home has been incredible. So thank you all again!
