On Saturday, May 2nd, Isle of Comics in South Williamsport is celebrating the largest event in the comic book industry: Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) for the 10th consecutive year. Each year, thousands of participating comic book stores give over six million comic books to millions of fans to introduce them to the wonders of comics. Wildly known, this event is one of Isle of Comics’ favorites events of the year that they organize for the community. This year, Isle of Comics has partnered with another comic distributor bringing Comics Giveaway Day on the same day as Free Comic Book Day.
For their first year, distributor, Penguin Random House (PRH) is joining the fun for the industry’s biggest day of the year with Comics Giveaway Day! PRH is bringing titles from companies including Marvel, Boom! Studios, Dark Horse, IDW, Ignition Press, and more to the line-up. Lunar Distributors distributes titles for Free Comic Book Day from companies including DC Comics, Image, Dynamite, Keenspot, Mad Cave Studios, and more.
“This year celebrates a decade of Free Comic Book Day here; a day bringing our ‘mini comic con’ to the area,” said Tracey Yeagle, owner of Isle of Comics. “We are excited to combine Comics Giveaway Day with Free Comic Book Day in their inaugural year too.”
This is the 10th year Isle of Comics celebrates FCBD, offering the community a fun, family-oriented event where everyone can find a comic they’ll enjoy. Stop by and meet comic book artists; Dave Sharpe for DC Comics – Batman/Deadpool, Superman: Son of Kal-El, Justice League: Unlimited, etc., Darren Auck with Marvel – Venom 2099, Ren & Stimpy and Rocko’s Modern Life, Kyle Witcoski, Michael Hunter, Ben Clippinger, Clementine’s Creations, Julie’s Candies, Bertha’s Barkery, and more. Leonard’s Backyard Bistro will also be attending the event.
Featured titles for this year’s line-ups include Spidey & His Amazing Friends, Amazing Spider-Man #1000/Queen in Black #1 crossover, Stitch, Supernatural, DC x Sonic crossover, Street Fighter Forever, Conan the Barbarian, and many more.
