Have you been fishing? My bearded friends ask, but unfortunately, the answer is no. They are quite puzzled, as I have been busy with Warrior Golf. I hope to get out this weekend, and we are planning an Amish float trip soon. I can’t wait.
Congratulations to my boys on another fantastic spring. It wasn’t the greatest in terms of weather, but we found a way. These guys come in all shapes and sizes. Our interactions in the van and on the course are priceless. I just wrapped up my ninetieth season and still cherish every moment. Thanks to the team for keeping me young. Lycoming College is a great place; these golfers are all outstanding kids. We finished in the top 10 in the two-day Landmark Conference tournament this past weekend. Something to build on. We have three outstanding recruits that will join the squad this fall. Yes. We are trending. We thought about starting an acoustic band. I am not kidding.
The other schools are legit. They can certainly play. Drew University won the overall title by one stroke over Scranton. Drew will now head to the Division III National Finals in May. The Warriors were randomly paired with the Rangers in the first round. Our guys were amazed. They were one over par as a team on Saturday. That is insane. The Warriors battled, and we did our best. Shawnee on the Delaware is a stunning and tricky course. 6,814 yards.
I have to give some love to my sensational sophomore, Will Eberz of Stroudsburg, PA. Will carded a 78 on the first day. But Eberz caught fire on Sunday. He was incredible in the wind. Will posted a 1-under-par 71. It was unreal. Five birdies. Eberz finished the weekend at 145 and a fifth-place crown. Will became the first golfer from Lycoming to earn first-team all-conference honors since 2006. Well done, kid. The team and I watched him drain a lengthy putt on the final hole. Will gave it a fist bump, and we went nuts. Eberz tied his career-best round. He also shot a 71 earlier in the week at Wyoming Valley Country Club.
His sophomore campaign was one for the books. Eberz averaged 80.45 in 2024-25. That is school record, folks. Back tees. Tough courses. Brutal conditions. No mulligans. No gimmes. With his fifth-place finish, Will became the first Warrior to earn back-to-back all-conference honors since Jordan Isenberg in 2005-06. Eberz was an Honorable Mention All-Landmark Conference pick in 2024 as a freshman stud. Great stuff.
No one works on his game more than Will. The kid is always practicing. Eberz has all of the tools. He is so dang mature. Meets the people well. Polite and legit. Will is off the charts. What an outstanding young man. He is so good to Jensen. The guy is a rockstar. Will is involved with so many different things on campus. He comes from a great family, and they show up to most of our events. His grandparents are a hoot. They are proud fans. Yes. He has a gallery. Will’s mother, Dana, is a Lycoming grad. His sister will join us in the fall. Fantastic people. We are so happy for Will.
I still love the game, but I play very little. I will tee it up in a few scrambles and perhaps an occasional better ball of partners. Golf takes time. It is an expensive sport. I would rather fish. But now that I am around Will and my boys, I am starting to get the itch.
I look forward to many more adventures with my guys. Well done, Will. Cheers.
