Homeschool Art Show & Contest

On April 27th, the homeschool community had its 1st Annual Homeschool Art Show and Contest sponsored by the Lycoming-Clinton County Homeschool Association of PA (President Dr. Carolyn McKeon) and hosted by the Lycoming County Patriots (headed by Jenny Golden, youth outreach).

The event featured over 400 pieces of art in photography, drawing, painting, and 3D art, including various mediums, from clay sculptures to 3D-printed items.

The event lasted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and featured a free lunch for all student artists and a $10 gift card to a local business, all donated by the Lycoming County Patriots.

With 145 participants, the show was a HUGE success.

Each category had four age groups — 5 and under, 6-9, 10-13, and 14 & up.

Nearly $900 in prizes were given out. First place earned $20, 2nd $10, and 3rd $5. There was a best-in-show in each category at $50 apiece and “A People’s Choice award” (voted on by those who came out to the show), which took home $100 (Dagny Barth).

The Lycoming County Patriots provided the judges for the event and graciously allowed LCCHA of PA to use their facility free of charge. Lycoming County Patriots held a 50/50 raffle, and Cheryl Welshans won. They also had a raffle basket for kids, and Ben Seese was the winner. It was a wonderful community event, and the homeschooling community could not be more grateful to the Lycoming County Patriots, who really stepped up and showed us great support.

We are looking forward to next year’s event in April of 2025!

The People’s Choice winner was Dagny Barth
