Montoursville held their 31st annual Ag Day on Thursday, October 12th at Mr. Hepburn’s farm. Future Farmers of America (FFA) members got to teach our fourth graders and Loyalsock’s and Montgomery’s first graders about agriculture and various topics.
Montgomery’s FFA students also joined with them in their groups.
EQT sponsored the Ag Day and gave a very generous donation.
Montoursville FFA officers, along with Montgomery’s, stirred apple butter all night long and are now selling it as a fundraiser.
The officers also released pheasants for each grade.
As FFA members, they strive to teach younger generations about agriculture. On their clothing this year they have a quote that reads, “We believe in the future of agriculture.”
It is important that we teach future generations about agriculture and why it is so important. FFA members hope that these younger students will also join FFA when they get to high school. Ag day is a way for them to get these kids on a farm and around animals. They hope to inspire these students to want to learn more about agriculture.
Ag day is also a learning experience for FFA members. THey all have to prepare their stations and what they want to say to each grade.
They hope to inspire more FFA groups to have their own “Ag Day.”
