Planes will drop “bombs” on Williamsport and the boroughs of Lycoming County, August 29, and air raid wardens will be on patrol duty, according to C. Paul Wagner, chief air raid warden.

The “bombs” will be made of paper so as not to cause any damage. Attached to each will be a colored streamer will signify as follows: a red streamer, incendiary bomb, blue streamer, high explosive bomb, green streamer, unexploded bomb, yellow streamer, gas bomb.

When air raid wardens find a bomb they will be instructed to use their imagination and to report immediately to control just what they think the situation will be if it were a real bomb instead of a dummy.

Due to the restriction of gasoline, no services will be dispatched to the scend of the incidents. However, wardens turning in reports will be given credit on their advanced training assignments.

Control center personnel and air raid wardens have been instructed to report to their posts at 3:15 p.m.
