Memorial Day weekend is one of my favorite long weekends. Honestly, it’s my favorite spring/summer holiday! It’s the kick-off to summer! NOT that I love the stupid hot weather in the slightest. I just look forward to this long weekend and all the fun the warmer weather brings.
I love the Rock-n-Roll 500 on 99.3 FM playing the whole holiday weekend. All that good classic rock jammin’ out all weekend at our first kick-off up at our river lot. I love being with family and friends. Especially this year, because my schooling will finally be finished after all these months of studying so hard to pursue my dream. It’s an exciting time! Plus, the food, the fun, the music, family, and friends. What’s not to love? But let’s not forget.
As I went on a motorcycle ride with my husband, we stopped at his dad’s grave, and there was an American flag edged on the corner of his grave. Below it read ‘Veteran’ on a marker. As I looked out over the graves, there were so many who had fought for our country. Knowing Memorial Day was around the corner, it was neat to see just how many out there sacrificed for us. Yeah, we go to the river lot, cabin, hang with friends, and enjoy the tradition of the Rock-n-Roll 500, but there is a reason for the long weekend. Thank you to those who have served, will serve, and died for our country. Y’all are true heroes. As those flags fly on the graves this weekend, I will think of you and this amazing country we live in. Even though we have gone through a lot as a country, I am glad that I still live in America. I am just so grateful for all of those who have served our country. Thank you!!
Everyone enjoy your weekend, and never forget those men and women who died so that we may be free.
God Bless our soldiers, and God bless America, the land of the free.
How cute are these for a Memorial Day picnic? So simple and festive! Enjoy!
