Williamsport Sun: May 16, 1929 – The Park Hotel to Remain Open

The Park Hotel was open again for business on May 1. This was good news to many Williamsporters, many of whom have made this hotel their home for many years when in Williamsport.

Managing Director, John F. Letton states that during the winter months many improvements have been made, the lobby having been re-decorated, and is now very attractive. An experienced gardener is in charge of the beautiful lawn and in another week or two a profusion of flowers will be seen.

This hotel, with its large porches overlooking the beautiful lawn, is very attractive to many tourists and many Williamsporters also make this their home. The management reports that quite a number of permanent guests have already secured rooms since this opening.

Mr. Letton states that now it is the intention of the management not to close the Park Hotel during the coming winter season, but to keep it open during the winter for the benefit of the many permanent guests and a special winter rate will be made for the winter months.

Irvin Calvert, who for the past 17 years has been connected with the Ross Club of this city, is in charge of the Catering Department and he has secured Chef Harrison, formerly of the Country Club, but late of the Elks’ Club.
