It is an obvious point. But one that needs to be repeated. Rioting is wrong. Period.
I am no expert. Nor do I have any answers. But what went down last week is extremely frustrating. I won’t elaborate on the embarrassment. I can only condemn it. I will not point any fingers. Just don’t do it. Rioting is bad even when there seems to be a just cause. Claiming the election was rigged is not.
I also condemned the riots and looting that occurred this summer. I do believe in some type of reform, but burning buildings and breaking windows is wrong. Most of the damage caused by these riots hurts innocent people. Violence and the violation of personal property does not help the local economy. The negative economic impacts always linger.
I can only imagine such extreme circumstances. Are rioting and destruction the only means to address a great evil? I totally get it, and some may argue that such occurrences are just and can lead to war. Anyone defending and participating in these riots needs some actual proof. Mobsters do not need a reason. This is what is troubling. Most folks are just out looking for mayhem.
Refusing to accept the outcome of the election has only added to the situation. Our commander in chief only fueled the fire. I don’t believe that he is individually responsible. But his supporters were inspired by his rhetoric. Personally, I am not a fan. He has done some good, but he has also done some bad. I also do not wish any bad will or damage to him or his supporters. I can only hope for a peaceful transition. The jury is still out.
A few weeks back, I wrote a column. My words were simple, and I called for more love. It is more important now than ever. I am still very concerned about what is going on. I see division everywhere. Even here in the 570. I do not understand all of the hatred. Rioting is wrong. We need to find a better way — a common ground.
I am what they call an INDEPENDENT — a tree-loving transcendentalist. I vote for the best candidate. Period. I place no bearing on their affiliation. I wish more people would look at things this way. The world would be a better, much safer place. WE THE PEOPLE, are what make AMERICA great.
I apologize for the rant this week. Looking forward to getting back to normal here soon. The basketball season is now underway. Fingers are crossed. Hopefully, everyone can stay safe. Good luck to all teams. Hang in there and remember to spread more love. Cheers.
