June 14 is Flag Day

The Anthony DiSalvo Flags Across America March for 2020 has been cancelled — a victim of COVID-19.

The Susquehanna Council BSA encourages all citizens to proudly fly your American flag on Flag Day June 14 to honor America and in memory of Tony DiSalvo

The late Tony DiSalvo believed that everyone should have an understanding of American flag etiquette and respect.

He started the Flag March 37 year ago. He petitioned the National Council to create a Flag Etiquette Merit Badge. Unfortunately, they did not approve his request. To honor his memory and help make his dream a reality, the Susquehanna Council this year is introducing the “U.S. Flag Etiquette Award” inspired by Tony DiSalvo.

Our hope is that this award will help every scout and every citizen gain a greater appreciation for our nation’s colors!

This award will include a patch Scouts and Scouters can earn to wear on their uniforms by completing specified requirements to learn about flag etiquette, respect and history of the flag.

The patch will also be available to non-scouters and members of the general public by completing the same requirements.

Requirements and order form will be posted on the Susquehanna Council website.
