Celebrating the Class of 2020

This week we are celebrating the senior classes of 2020! Congratulations to all the graduates!

I know that none of you expected your senior year to end this way. No one could have really seen that coming. No prom, senior skip day, none of the lasts that you were looking forward to celebrating. But, that doesn’t lessen the accomplishment. You made it! Maybe in a weird way, but you did!

You may not get to walk across a stage and receive you diploma, but you should be proud of yourselves regardless.

As you look to the future and your next steps, remember that it’s not the actual graduation, but the journey that got you there that really matters!

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been spotlighting seniors in the area. And I have a few more for you this week.

First up is a trio of graduates. Jacob, Makayla and Autumn Harris are all grandchildren of Sonnette and Dwight Harris, who own Bill’s Appliance in Old Lycoming Township. Jacob is graduating from Penn College with a degree in Engineering Design Technology. Makayla will graduate from Gateway High School in Monroeville and Autumn will graduate from Muncy School District. I know Sonnette and Dwight are incredibly proud of their grandkids and with them the best of luck in the future.

Next up is Owen Mahon from Williamsport Area High School. Owen is the son of Jared and Amy Mahon.

Owen had a lot of success in Track and Field while in high school. Including setting the school record in the 4×8 during the State Tournament his freshman year. He was also a Junior Olympic Competitor is junior year. His senior year brought All PHAC honors, and he competed at the State level.

Outside of track, he was the President/Vice President of Key Club, a two year member of SADD, 2019 Outstanding Track Athlete, he received the 2019 Cross-Country Coaches Award and in 2017 was the Outstand Freshman in Track & Field.

In the fall, Owen will attend Penn State – Main Campus and will participate on their Track & Field Team.

Congratulations to all our graduates, we all wish you the best of luck going forward. Things may not have ended the way you wanted or expected, but that doesn’t make your future any less bright! Keep you heads up and keep moving forward!
