Seventh Annual Mom Prom Set For April 18

The 1980s will be the theme of the charitable night out for women known as the “Mom Prom” to be held Saturday, April 18 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Genetti Hotel and Convention Center. This year’s chosen charity is the Uptown Music Collective.

The initial founders of Williamsport Mom Prom were Jillian Parks and Christina Staccone. Staccone is still involved. She is pleased to be able to bring this National event to our local area with the support of another colleague (beginning in 2014) with Jillian Parks.

“The Mom Prom was created in Canton, Michigan in 2006 at St. Thomas a’Becket Catholic Church. It was a ladies night out for charity in which women wore their old prom gowns, bridesmaids dresses, or wedding gowns,” Staccone told Webb Weekly. “It was a real prom with a DJ, tackiest dress contest, and a game to crown the new queen. This was a wonderful, hilarious night in which women could dance the night away, have fun with friends, and help a worthy cause.

Their hopes were to have ladies’ groups from across the country create their own proms, raising money for charities that are near and dear to their hearts and this precisely what Staccone and the women who brought the concept to Williamsport want to happen.

“All money raised stays here locally to help our community,” Staccone said. “We have helped an array of groups such as Lycoming County United Way, Lifting Little Lives, Helping our Warriors, individual families with a catastrophic altering event and/or medical conditions, and with Mental Health/Cognitive Disability groups.”

Williamsport Mom Prom selected Uptown Music Collective as the beneficiary of this year’s event proceeds. As their goal is to provide much needed assistance to provide a detailed educational program that enrolls students of all ages with an exceptional music education program and high-impact musical experiences that instill a love of music and an understanding of the importance of discipline, hard work and community.

Sponsorship Tables are $375 only sold at the Genetti’s front desk or/via mailing address 51 East Fairview Street, Cogan Station, PA 17728.
