Little White Church on the Hill

Little White Church on the Hill

I am sure many of you read the Sun Gazette, and on Saturday, November 9th, there was a beautiful write up about our church’s 150th Anniversary. Since I was a baby, I have attended that sweet little church nestled on the hill off of Grimesville Road in Williamsport. I have so many memories at Buchanan Baptist Church. Many vacation bible schools, youth group on Wednesday nights, Christmas Eve candlelight services, Sunday school, baptisms, and I made a family. I not only look forward to listening to my wonderful Pastor preach on Sunday, but love seeing my church family. I seriously don’t know what I would do without them. Having a church that is so close is something special.

Our Pastor, Robert Regan, and his wife, Nancy Regan have so much to do with that. They are so involved with everyone, whether it’s a good or bad thing happening in your life. Asking each week how you are doing and truly loving each member of the church. Their kindness and smiles each week is something that starts my week off right. Knowing I can always count on my Pastor and members of our church is a wonderful thing. I’ll never ever forget when he heard I won first place at a car show back when I was in high school. He pulled me up front of the congregation, trophy and all, and a made big deal over something that meant so much to me! He does this with anyone who has something special happen in their life. He is such an awesome man who really cares for all!

Last Sunday we celebrated our Anniversary with a two hour service to start the morning. Missionaries that we have supported for many years came and spoke about their ministries. So many of them said how Buchanan is such a special church and so warm and welcoming. They feel loved when they come. We support over fifteen missionaries, which is a pretty neat thing being we have a small church of a little over one hundred folks who attend. For lunch we all gathered together again and had a catered Thanksgiving dinner in celebration. In the evening, there was another beautiful service at 7 p.m. that a family from Mifflinburg came to have a concert. It was the Bradford family, and they played handbells, harp, and many other instruments. The bells seriously had me mesmerised! How this sweet family of eight, from the kids ages ranging from four to eighteen can learn to make such gorgeous music with these bells. The littlest one was so fun to watch. She was just so happy to be up there with her family ringing her tiny bells. It was an awesome day, and I just thank God for my church, Pastor, and family. To be a part of a church faithfully for thirty four years and have such a wonderful family to start your week off each week makes my heart full. I also met my very best friend at my church as well. We both have attended since we were babies. Amanda English and I have went to Buchanan together and grew up at the same schools growing closer and closer throughout the years. So thankful for our relationship. I don’t know what I would do without her. She has been right by my side through thick and thin. A relationship that started through attending church. My momma made sure we were at church each Sunday, and for that I am grateful.

So if you are looking for a traditional church, singing hymns and praise, and a Pastor that is like no other, please come join us some Sunday morning at 9 a.m.! We would love to have you, and please come introduce yourself to me! Love seeing new faces, and hearing our Pastor preach from the word is such a blessing. You will surely be blessed, I can promise you that.
