Our Lady of Lourdes Annual Parish Festival Features Entertainment and Fun for All Ages

Imagine it: mouth-watering slow-cooked beef brisket served under open skies to the tunes of country and western music, complete with all the traditional chuckwagon fixins’.

Then, the belly-filling goodness of traditional, homemade Polish cuisine: the ever-popular potato-stuffed dumplings called pierogi, the classic stuffed cabbage rolls, that undeniable hominess when noodles and cabbage come together in the dish Haluski, and the sweetness of homemade nut roll.

Well, no need to imagine anymore, because on September 13 and 14, 2018, Our Lady of Lourdes, Montoursville’s Catholic Church, will serve these scrumptious foods—along with many others—when it hosts its annual parish fall festival.

Friday the 13th will feature the Chuckwagon Dinner, which includes zippy baked beans and pasta salad along with the beef brisket. Leo & KG with Family Tradition, a popular area country/western group will fill the air with country and western tunes from the past and present, perfect for encouraging some dosey-does on the dance floor and dusting off those cowboy boots.

On Saturday the 14th the Polish food will tickle the taste buds, while DJ Eric Spencer of White Collar Entertainment will spin favorite pop and rock and roll tunes as a musical accompaniment or for dancing.

Additionally, the festival will offer its traditional “fair cuisine” — meatball and hot sausage sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, fresh-cut French fries, walking tacos, ice cream, homemade pie, fresh-squeezed lemonade and more. The festival always offers games, food, activities, rides, and entertainment to please young and old alike, and this year’s schedule follows suit. Both nights will feature rides, basket raffle, fall décor and plant sale, children’s games and face painting, wine and cake wheels, and more.

The festival begins at 5:00 pm both nights and runs until 9:30 in the evening at the Our Lady of Lourdes church grounds at 100 Walnut Street in Montoursville. For more information please visit the website: www.ourladyoflourdesmontoursville.org.
