First Annual Beach Party To Be Held At Liberty Arena June 1

The golden sands of Tahiti, Waikiki, Bora Bora, Malibu, Liberty Arena — LIBERTY ARENA?! Yes, Liberty Arena! On Saturday, June 1, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Liberty Arena in downtown Williamsport, the facility will host its First Annual Beach Party.

The folks at the Liberty Arena are kicking off the summer with their ‘Epic Beach Party’ by transforming their parking lot into a beachy oasis complete with sand, inflatable palm trees, mini pools, food, drinks, activities, and live music.

In addition to live music the event will feature food and drink tents, beach games and cornhole tournaments at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

You can pre-register for the cornhole tournaments at: https://bit.ly/2W38vj2. Cost is $40 for a team of two with cash prizes.
There will also be a Longest Bag Toss Competition at 4 p.m. Other activities include Spikeball, Kan Jam, Washers, longest drive and closest to the pin competitions on the Liberty Arena golf simulator.

The first 200 kids will receive a free 30-minute arcade card. There will also be giant inflatables on the Liberty Arena turf, a balloon artist, a face painter, and all four Kaos Fun Zone attractions will be open — bowling, arcade, trampoline park and laser tag.

The event will also feature sports competitions like fastest pitch, punt, pass and kick, home run derby, and soccer shootout.

From noon-2 p.m. KISS-FM and Gary Chrisman will be onsite, from 2 to 4 p.m. WonderChunk — a five-piece band specializing in legendary guitar rock — will play. Based out of Bloomsburg, WonderChunk covers rock music and infuses it with soul to create a sound that is fresh and unique. From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Uptown Music Collective will perform and from 7 to 9 p.m. Clyde Frog will play. Clyde Frog is one of the most popular and successful bands to come out of the area and is our headliner and a crowd favorite.

They don’t live in the area anymore, but come back about two times a year for super popular shows. Chris Kohler and Dylan Rockoff were part of Uptown Music Collective growing up.

Once the outdoor festivities conclude, the party moves indoors to Scorz Bar and Grill, where Caryn Dixon will put on a live show until close.

Admission to this event is $5 for those 21 and over, which benefits Uptown Music Collective. Admission for under 21 is free.

“We are really excited and want to make this a yearly event. We wanted to make this an event for anyone to come to — adults, families, kids — so, there really is something for everyone,” Sarah Andreychik, Marketing Manager for the Liberty Group, told Webb Weekly. “When we were first putting this event together, we knew that live music is what really brings people together and keeps them around, so we wanted to get some bands that have local ties and a great local following.”

Dan Klingerman CEO of the Liberty Group is also excited about this event and praised the efforts of officials from the City of Williamsport to help ensure that it is a successful one. “Without the support of the city and the Mayor, we would never have been able to make an event like this happen. From closing off the streets to barricades to bleachers, this is something that can’t be accomplished unless it is a community effort,” Klingerman said.

Event organizers encourage attendees to bring their own lawn chairs. Parking in the city will be free that day and ticketing will not take place. Hepburn Street will be blocked off between Third and Fourth streets.
