Adult Prom At Farrington Place To Fight Cystic Fibrosis Happens Saturday, March 23

Cystic Fibrosis is a serious and chronic lung disease. In the past children who had the disease seldom made it out of their teens but some progress has been made. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been striving to find a cure for the disease and a unique fundraiser to benefit the CFF, called the “Adult Prom,” will take place on Saturday, March 23 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Farrington Place in Williamsport.

Dan Carpenter, head of D.C. Entertainment is the spark plug behind this event. Carpenter told Webb Weekly how the idea of holding an “Adult Prom” came about.

“About six years ago I met a DJ from Erie PA at a DJ convention in Atlantic City. In different discussions, he told me about a couple of the larger fundraiser activities they put together up there, but one that he was especially proud of was their Adult Prom,” Carpenter said. “That year, my wife and I went up for each of their events but were especially fond of the Adult Prom. They also do theirs for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and so we got to witness and meet their focus family. Cystic Fibrosis was something we knew little about, but that trip changed all of that. On the drive home, my wife and I knew that we needed to do something around here. So with the guidance of my friend and his company in Erie, we started to put it all into motion.”

He said this will be the fifth year for this event and he listed what you would get for the price of your ticket. Included are: entrance into the party, dancing, open bar (they have a couple of kegs on tap and a selection of liquors and mixers), hors d’oeuvres, photo booth, a chance to bid on some exciting items they have in their silent auction, plus a night out helping a great cause.

“Come prepared to have a great time. Each year we’ve done it, we’ve had people come up to us at the end, glad to see we did it, shocked at the amount of money we raised in one night, and tired from all of the dancing,” Carpenter stated. “From our end, it’s a lot of work, but worth it to see the smiles on the faces of those there, and so cool to take that money and hand it over to CFF knowing it makes a difference.”

He said people that come say they do so for one of two reasons: 1. They know someone with Cystic Fibrosis and want to be able to help any way they can. 2. They enjoy a great night out, and this gives them a chance to do so with their significant other.
