We’ve Been Cooped Up Too Long!

Y’all. For real though. It feels like it’s been the longest winter ever. It’s like Winterfell around here. And I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to get out of the house.

Now, you know how much it bothers me when people say there isn’t anything to do around here. Just in case you’ve forgotten, I will always argue that if you are bored in the Williamsport area, you haven’t even tried to find something to do. But you know what? I like you. So I’ll just go ahead and drop a bunch of the things that are happening in the area in the next week or so right here for your convenience.

Easy. Peasy.

On February 20th, The Groove Orient is playing at the Bar on Market. The show starts at 10:00 p.m.
You can check out the details on page 6, but in case you missed the cover the Uptown Music Collective has shows all weekend. This time they are focusing on the ladies with their “Women of Pop” show. The UMC never fails to impress, so if you have the chance to catch one of their shows, please do!

On Thursday the 21st, the Sawhorse Café will be doing another ‘Dutch Hill Dinner Party.’ Beginning at 5:00 p.m., they will be serving up Indian cuisine via phone and walk-in orders and will serve until the food runs out.

As always, the weekends are busy around the area.

Friday brings Cadillac Cats to Boom City from 8:00-11:00 p.m. and Moxie & Rebels will be at Kimball’s starting at 10:00 p.m.

Saturday will be a busy day too. If you want to get outside for a bit, the Outdoor Growers Market starts bright and early on Saturday morning. They bring a ton of great, fresh, local food to downtown Williamsport. They are definitely worth braving any possible weather for!

While you are out and about, you can work off some of those Growers Market calories by joining UPMC Susquehanna and the YMCA for their 8th annual Day of Dance. Join UPMC Susquehanna’s Spirit of Women members for Day of Dance Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Williamsport Branch YMCA. Participate in dance and exercise classes, receive free health screenings, shop with business vendors, and learn simple and fun ways to stay healthy. To register or join our free Spirit of Women program, call 1-888-720-8461. The dancing starts at 10:00 a.m.

Are you a fan of comedy? Or giving back to your community? Arthaus Projects and the Drunk Bill Explains podcast are happy to invite you and anyone else to come out to a night of laughs and charity at Arthaus Projects in Williamsport on February 23rd. The comics bringing the funny are Bill Russum, Josh Dweh, and Rasheed Wesley Jr., with the night being hosted by Cassidy Grae.

According to Arthaus, “We wanted to get together to have some fun and help anyone we could especially during the current climate so the charities we will be helping out our local food shelters with any food donations brought in and the Flint Water Fund.” Admission is only $10 or $2 off for every food item you bring to donate (There’s no LIMIT to the amount you can donate, so feel free to bring however much you want. Every item helps) Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with the show starting at 8:00 p.m. Event is BYOB.

Later in the week brings the official grand opening of the newly updated Liberty Arena. If you haven’t been there yet, Thursday will be a great day to visit and see all the new stuff happening! The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Open House will be Thursday, February 28th. Festivities kick off at 4:00 p.m. Enjoy all of the attractions in Kaos Fun Zone and delicious food and drinks at Scorz Bar and Grill.

Obviously, I’m limited in space here. I could go on and on about all there is to do locally. Quizzo, music, art, wine & design, pottery, dancing, dinners and more. A lot can be found on our calendar pages on page 22 & 32. There is always something happening in the area, so beat the winter blues away and get out of the house for some fun!
