Yesterday and last Saturday were busy days for members of Alpha Gamma Epsilon Fraternity and Lycoming College. They were hard at work making a combination scout room and fallout shelter at the Bethune-Douglas Community Center.

Assisting the collegians were a number of 12 and 13-year-old members of Troop 19, a Boy Scout group sponsored by the center.

Yesterday they walled up three windows with cinder blocks, patched cracks in the wall, and cemented walls of the 38.5 x 23-foot room. Last week they cleared the junk, which had been stored through the years, removed heavily deteriorated wallboard and patched the ceiling. Next, the boys will paint ceilings, walls, and the floor.

Otto D. Souter, Jr., associated professor of Sociology at Lycoming College, has been working with the boys. He said the project was the first off-campus work project at the college this term.

Arthur Strothers, a member of the board of directors at Bethune Douglas, is supervising the project.

The community center has squeezed $150 from its budget for the project, and Lundy Paint Company has donated some of the materials.
