The Liberty Arena is Ready to Help Williamsport’s Downtown Continue to Grow and Thrive With Revamped Features

A set of bronze statues on all four corners of the main street downtown, sidewalk squares centered with plaques naming area sports standouts, and citizens filled with the passion of any big city considered a sports capital of this country.

Williamsport is a gem tucked into the mountains of Pennsylvania, and its downtown area, displaying the city’s endless passion for sports, will be getting a newly revamped arena that will cater to those passions and then some.

The Liberty Arena has been revamped to feature 12 bowling lanes, a trampoline park, a decked-out sports bar and restaurant named Scorz along with an outdoor patio, an ice cream parlor called Screamz, an arcade with many game features, laser tag, and many other features to keep Williamsport’s fans and athletes happy, along with drawing in more people from around the state.

“The Liberty Arena expanded its service offerings to cater to a broader spectrum of local patrons,” Chairman and CEO of The Liberty Group Daniel A. Klingerman said. “In addition to the already existing trampoline park and turf fields, the Liberty Arena’s expansion included Koas Fun Zone, Scorz Bar and Grill, and Laser Quest (laser tag).”

Klingerman purchased the Arena in 2013 and has been building the new additions since the purchase. In 2017 he had the idea of expanding the Arena to include the restaurant and other features, and in February of this past year, construction started.

The addition of all the new places will definitely expand the Liberty Arena’s offerings. It will also expand downtown Williamsport’s reach as a younger crowd will take advantage of Scorz, which features a full bar and American style cuisine. The goal will be to cater to both the hardcore sports fan as well as giving the casual fans a place to grab a solid meal.

At one time the Arena featured a skating rink. It also featured the YMCA, but never really had something that would appeal to an entire family. Klingerman’s goal for the Liberty Arena will be to have something for everybody.

“The Arena is now better equipped to be a gathering place for friends and family to stay and play,” Klingerman said. “Rather than just be an event venue or a field of play, the Arena is now a full-blown activity center and restaurant that literally has something for every member of the family.”

The Arena could even start to expand its reach by hosting major sporting events in the area. The fact that it boasts parking, a fully functioning restaurant, and bar and enough activities to keep the family busy for hours will only help in hosting those types of functions.

The new additions include, along with the Scorz Bar and Grill, 12 lanes of bowling, 50 games in the new arcade center, and the Laser Quest gameplay area.

“The new attractions and expanded venue are the perfect place for families to visit,” Klingerman said. “The Liberty Area has all of these attractions under one roof, and it is full of activities to do for kids, teens, and adults.”

Scorz Bar and Grill also features a full bar offering a variety of local and non-local craft beers and has a lot of daily, weekly and monthly features on tap. In January they are offering ‘Wing It Wednesday’ that offers unlimited wings and arcade play. They have also recently done a ‘Tap Takeover’ with local brewery, New Trail Brewing. The restaurant also offers plenty of deals on meals and arcade play to make it an affordable night out for families.

There are plenty of amazing games to be played at Kaos Fun Zone for the young and young at heart. And, of course, accumulating points at Kaos and seeing what prizes you can get is half the fun.

Kaos Fun Zone also offers weekly bowling specials, with Thursday being the day to hit up the lanes for just $10 an hour.

The Arena also offers several different birthday packages that span Kaos, Laser Quest and FlyWorld.
