Annual Way’s Garden Art Show Sunday, June 10

One of Williamsport’s greatest civic assets, Way’s Garden, will again be the site of the 62nd Annual Way’s Garden Art Show conducted by the Bald Eagle Art League. Additionally, the Way’s Garden Restoration Committee will use this occasion to help raise funds for its restoration efforts. The event takes place this Sunday, June 10 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Also, along with the Art Show, Trinity Episcopal Church will have their Strawberry Festival, and the Repasz Band will perform from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. that afternoon and further musical entertainment will be provided by the Sue Bloom Acoustic Trio from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Besides being able to enjoy the art and food and the music, visitors can enjoy the many new trees and gardens that have been planted in Way’s Garden since the devastating destruction that was caused by the storm of May 2017.

According to Bob Esposito, chairman of the Way’s Garden Commission, the restoration of Way’s Garden to its former grandeur will be moving into high gear later this year. It has become evident what items of the wish list will remain undone. To help raise the needed funds to complete the project the Committee will be having another tented Chinese Auction fundraiser of plants and garden items that everyone would like, young and old. Also, there will be a Children’s Planting Experience where any child will be shown how to plant a flower of their choice and be able to take home for their own garden.

Along with the Chinese Auction, the Committee will again sponsor a Secret Garden Tour later this year on Saturday, September 8th, so you are asked to please “Save the Date.” Eight beautiful local gardens have already been selected to provide a fun day for any garden enthusiast. Some surprise perks have been arranged, making having a ticket all the more worthwhile.

There will be a number of artists and vendors of various artistic media displaying their works at the Way’s Garden Art Show.

The highlight of the show will be the presentation of the “Eve Archer Award” that is determined by a “people’s choice” vote that is held using ballots filled out by those attending the show. Eve Archer was one of the founders of the Way’s Garden Show and was very active with it and the Bald Eagle Art League, until her death in 2016.

A little about the musical entertainment presented at this event. The Repasz Band is one of Williamsport’s most celebrated musical treasures. It has been in existence since 1831 and has been a fixture at past Way’s Garden Art Shows and enjoys a wide-ranging venerable reputation.

The Sue Bloom Acoustic Trio offers a vast variety of new country and classic rock.

With a refreshing new sound, they go back to the roots of playing Acoustic guitar and singing songs that tell a story. With the insatiable harmonies of Rock Anello and Bert Smeal, this is definitely a Must See group!

The Trio consists of Sue, her brother David Bloom, Beth England, Rock Anello and Bert Smeal.
