CasinoEvil III To Be Held At Farrington Place on April 28

Return to those days of bathtub gin and bootleg liquor and those wild days of the “Roaring Twenties,” as CasinoEvil III, a night of food, spirits, and chance, will be held at Farrington Place, 416 West Third Street, Williamsport, on Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 6:00-11:00 p.m. The fundraiser will benefit the Lycoming County Historical Society.

Suggesting the Prohibition Era of United States history, the venue will recreate a Speakeasy of the 1920s. Guests are encouraged to come in costumes of the period, but it is not required. Equipped with an open bar of liquor, wine and beer, a popcorn bar, catered hors-d’oeuvres, and oyster shuck-off, gaming, and the opportunity to win some fantastic raffle prizes, guests are sure to enjoy the evening while mingling with gangsters, flappers and the ghost of Prince Farrington, the ‘Robin Hood’ of Lycoming County. Prince Farrington was known as a bootlegger during Prohibition, supplying the surrounding era with moonshine and other spirits produced in and around the County. Guy Graybill, who has written two books on the Prince, will be available to autograph books.

“This is one of our major fundraisers of the year,” remarked Executive Director Gary Parks, told Webb Weekly. “It not only gives our guests a chance to support the museum, but it transports them back in time. I have been amazed that most people come in costume from the Prohibition Era. Everyone seems to enjoy being a flapper or a bootlegging gangster. I just hope Farrington Place doesn’t get raided by the Keystone Cops! We’d have to bail all of our guests out of jail, and there goes our profit margin!”

Adding to the festivities of the evening will be an opportunity to learn the Charleston from dance masters Sandy and Frank Hartzell. A Charleston contest will follow, and the best couple will be rewarded with a prize. As well, the best costumes for a male and a female will garner an award.

Tickets are priced at $60 per person with a $10 discount afforded to members of the Lycoming County Historical Society located at 858 West Fourth Street. Tickets are available at the Historical Society during operational hours (Tuesday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Tickets are also available from Board members.
