Let me be the first to wish you a Happy Fall, Y’all. I know we still have Labor Day ahead and the official beginning of Autumn is September 22nd, but with all that’s going on this month, I was inspired to get out ahead of the season.
Before I start talking about Home Improvement and visions of big bucks, one last-minute reminder. Depending on which day you find the Webb Weekly in your mailbox, there may still be time to get up to Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field. The Williamsport Crosscutters will be taking on Aberdeen in the MLB Draft League Championship Game on Wednesday, September 2nd at 6:35. Gabe and the gang have a great night of Championship baseball and entertainment planned. Weis Markets will be giving away a rally towel to the first 1,500 fans to begin the night. Post game activities will include a drone show afterwards. And hopefully in between, the Crosscutters bring home another championship to Billtown.

I know it may seem a little early, but it’s really not for those who will be hunting for that trophy whitetail locally. I’ve already heard stories about many big bucks roaming Penn’s Woods. Our 20th annual Uncle Ron’s Monster Buck Contest will again run with the 2026-27 PA hunting season.
The normal cast of characters, Poust Taxidermy, Sauers Trading, and Stoltzfus Butcher Shop, will again provide the great prizes for the winners. Remember, our contest follows the belief that a trophy is in the hands of the holder, so any legally harvested buck is eligible for entry. Complete details of our Uncle Ron’s Monster Buck Contest will be published along with our Fall Outdoor Guide on September 30th.
I’ll finish up this week with a tip of my hunting cap with the American Flag on the side to Webb Weekly’s very own Wes Sones. Wes is very active within the hunting, education, and passing it down to the next generation community. He is a board member at the Lycoming County Beagle Club and also spends time with the Sulphyr Springs Rifle Club. He has a special love and passion for beagles and rabbit hunting.
The Lycoming County Beagle Club’s 2026 Youth Day will be held Saturday, September 12th. It’s a great event for ages 8 to 16, and registration is free if you do so by September 5th.
There is a safety course prior to the shooting and archery parts of the day. There will be winners awarded in three youth age brackets. There is a free lunch provided by the Consolidated Sportsmen of Muncy Creek to go along with beagle demonstrations, trapping with Scott Kilcoyne, and fly tying with the Hughesville Fly Fishing Club.
