Holding On to Those Few Extra Pounds?

I’ve had people lately asking if I am still doing my fitness and nutrition coaching because I haven’t written about it in a while or shared updates on my social media.

I didn’t put it out there because I had six clients, and that was all I could take on. I work from home on Mondays with my coaching clients, and six is my max for one day. (Two of them are my bi-weekly check-ins.)

When I share, people ask me for their help, and I have a very, very hard time saying no because I want to help everyone! It makes me so happy. I love doing this.

Over seven years ago, I told myself I had to make big changes. I was the heaviest I had ever been, and it made me sick. I made a commitment to myself to lose weight and keep it off this time. Over the course of two years, I lost over 60 pounds. Keeping it off didn’t require a flawless diet or hours of agonizing gym sessions. It required consistency! I tell my clients this all the time. It’s not about perfection. It’s about consistency!

As a local journalist and a health coach for the past five-plus years, I have watched countless people fall into the trap of trying to be perfect. They cut out everything they love, burn out, and quit.

“That’s it! I give up!” I would tell myself, diet after diet, after diet.

In my coaching practice, perfection is banned. Moderation is required. True results come down to simple, manageable numbers: calories in and out, fiber, protein, and daily step counts.

Sleep, stress, and water also factor in, and these are things I teach you about.

My clients maintain a remarkably high success rate because they never give up the foods they enjoy. Just this past July, a client wrapped up a three-year journey with me, losing 60 pounds in two years, then learning to maintain that the following year. Another older client came to me three months ago, full of self-doubt. Today, she is down 20 pounds and thriving.

She found me through reading the Webb. A few of my clients have through the years, actually!

Fitness is not an all-or-nothing game. In this journey, we will explore how to hit your health goals without sacrificing your lifestyle. I work around the lifestyle you already have; we just make small tweaks over time that become lifestyle changes.

Most fitness marketing tells you that you need to completely overhaul your life to see results. You are told to cut out your favorite foods, starve yourself, and spend hours on a treadmill. I know firsthand that is a lie. I personally lost 65 pounds as of today, and have maintained that loss for over 7 years by focusing on one rule: consistency over perfection. I have client after client who I can use as references about my coaching skills and success rate.

I also want to say this, and I say this to my clients before they even start with me.

I am not a miracle worker. You aren’t going to lose 20 pounds in one month with me. I am not the coach for you if you want that. Anyone can lose weight fast by simply hardly eating or eating like a rabbit. Who wants to dread what they eat, never look forward to a meal, or feel hungry all the time? How is this living? No. I take the time to teach you to incorporate things you love, all while losing weight at a perfect pace. Half a pound to 1-2 pounds a week is the sweet spot. Slow and steady keeps it off so much easier, and listen, honey, you didn’t gain that 20 pounds overnight. You sure as heck won’t lose it overnight either. Good things take time. You have to take the time to learn the skills for weight loss and keeping it off. My goal was 80lbs when I started in 2019.

Here I am, still riding in the 60s. But I look at everything my body has been through in the past- how many years. It’s honestly amazing to me that I have kept it all off with how sick I was for so long. I have a healthy relationship with the scale, weighing in faithfully with my best friend, Tania Myers, by my side every week. We’ve texted each other faithfully every Friday for the past seven years of weigh-ins. We’re each other’s accountability. I’ll hit that goal eventually, but you know what? I’m happy in my body! I worked so hard to get where I am today. I am far from skinny, but I’m far from where I used to be. I don’t want to be skinny. I love my hourglass figure and my curves. I don’t look at pictures and feel like I am the fat girl in the picture anymore. I see a beautiful woman who took action and made changes in her life. I see a woman who doesn’t deprive herself and enjoys the same meals as her family. I see a happy woman because she tried, and she did it!

If I can do it, right along with all the other clients I have helped, you can too!

As your coach, I promise to be your biggest cheerleader. Ask my clients, haha; they will tell you! I get fired up at check-ins, man. It’s awesome! I will cheer you on, hold you accountable, and teach you to look in the mirror and see that beautiful person you have always been. You just have to have confidence in yourself and know that you can do hard things!

Choose your hard.

Be unhappy with yourself, or work hard to change.

What’s it going to be?

I have two openings this fall! Two! This doesn’t happen very often, and when the spots are filled, they are filled. Please reach out to me at my email: lifestylefitnesscoach@yahoo.com or contact Steph, who will reach out to me at editor@webbweekly.com

Lastly, you can call the Webb Weekly at 570-326-9322 and give them your number.

They will see that I got it, and I will call you. Are you ready to work together? I got you. Let’s do this!

Tasty Turkey & Veggie Dinner

Ingredients:
• 2 lbs. ground turkey
• 1 small onion (chopped)
• 1 Tbsp minced garlic
• 1 cup good quality tomato sauce
• 1 cup ketchup
• 1 can of Rotel
• 1-2 tsp salt (to your liking)
• 1 bag of frozen mixed veggies

Directions:

Start cooking the ground turkey and small onion in a large pot. Once the turkey is almost cooked through, add the garlic and finish cooking the turkey. Add the can of Rotel, sauce, ketchup, and salt. Let simmer for 10 minutes. Then add the frozen veggies. Continue simmering until the veggies are hot. I made garlic couscous and piled this on top. My teenager got seconds! Family approved.
