Williamsport Sun: July 1, 1942 – WRAK Launches Association with Network

Radio Station WRAK received innumerable compliments and congratulations for the new service it is offering to the people of Central Pennsylvania. Enjoying its first day as member of the National Broadcasting Company network, several new programs were heard for the first time locally.

According to George E. Joy, station manager, everything went well throughout the day, with all programs coming in as scheduled. He also mentioned as time goes on and the staff and the staff becomes more accustomed to network procedure and network time it will operate with even more precision.

WRAK’s first network broadcast was with the world news round-up at eight o’clock, which features reporters in London, England, Cairo, Egypt, Washington D.C. and Moscow, Russia.
